My Work

Michael Kreindler Design provides services in Maine for clients with residential projects.  I strive to create happy homes for families who love being here.  My buildings are designed for modern sensibilities, on sites of great natural beauty,  inspired by our strong regional history.

Background

Educated in New York with a degree in Environmental Design from Parsons School of Design, I developed my skills at firms recognized internationally for architecture, interiors and product design.  As a result, I can meet a wide range of project needs.

Attracted to a rural lifestyle, my wife and I settled in the Midcoast area in the 90’s.  Practicing independently here since 2000 I apply a keen eye, experienced hand and good listening skills to solve the complex challenges of building today.

Special Focus:  Non-conforming Shoreland Structures

Historic non-conforming “grandfathered” camps, cottages and waterfront buildings are prized for their exceptional locations.  Not surprisingly,  regulatory permitting for these projects is more rigorous.  While not for everyone, with good planning the results can be extraordinary.  Michael Kreindler Design is experienced in unlocking the design potential of these unique properties working within the rules of Maine Shoreland Zoning.
